So paano naaapektuhan ng high blood ang ating bato? Ganito kasi yan… Nagiging makitid kasi ang ating daluyan ng dugo o blood vessels kapag may high blood pressure. Dahil dito, nasisira ang mga parte ng ating katawan, kasama na dito ang ating kidneys, dahil nababawasan ang daloy ng dugo dito. At kapag nasira ang daluyan ng dugo papunta ng kidney, di ito gagana ng maayos. Kaya’t mahihirapan mailabas ang dumi at sobrang tubig sa katawan. Kapag nangyari ito, tataas lalo ang iyong blood pressure. Kaya’t parang paikot ikot lang silang nakakaapekto sa isa’t isa, hanggang sa humantong sa pagkasira ng iyong kidney, o magdulot ng kidney failure. Kaya’t maaaring parehas na sanhi at epekto din ng kidney disease ang pagkakaroon ng high blood pressure.

Karaniwan ang high blood pressure sa mga pinoy dahil sa di magandang nakasanayan, tulad ng pagkain ng maaalat, madalas at sobrang pagnom ng alak, at kakulangan sa ehersisyo. Ngunit natural din na mas tumataas ang ating blood pressure habang tumatanda, dahil kumakapal at tumitigas ang ating blood vessels habang nagkaka-edad na. Pwera sa high blood pressure, nakakataas din ng tsansang magka-kidney disease kapag ikaw ay may diabetes.
 
Ano mga sintomas ng high blood pressure at sakit sa bato?
Karamihan sa mga may high blood pressure ay walang sintomas. Pero minsan nakakaramdam ng sakit ng ulo ang mga may altapresyon.

Nangyayari ang edema kapag nahirapan o hindi mailabas ng kidney ang sobrang tubig at asin sa katawan. Madalas makikita ang pagmamanas sa paa, binti at bukong bukong. Minsan maaaring makita rin ito sa kamay at mukha, pero mas bihira ito.
 
Paglumala ang sakit sa bato o kidney disease, maaaring makaranas ng mga sumusunod:
-       Pagkawala ng ganang kumain o loss of appetite
-       Pagsusuka o nausea o vomiting
-       Madaling mapagod
-       Pananakit ng ulo at hirap mag-concentrate
-       Mas madalas na pagihi
-       Pangangati ng balat at pangingitim at pagtuyo ng balat
-       Biglaang pagbawas ng timbang ng walang dahilan
-       Hirap huminga
