Passover and Holy Week do not always fall on the same week, although they are sometimes closely aligned. The timing of these two religious observances is determined by different calendar systems.
Passover is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt, as described in the Hebrew Bible's Book of Exodus. It is observed for seven or eight days, depending on the Jewish tradition followed (seven days in Israel and for Reform Jews, eight days for most other Jewish communities). The start of Passover is determined by the Hebrew calendar, which is a lunar-solar calendar. Passover begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan, which usually falls in March or April of the Gregorian calendar.
Holy Week, on the other hand, is observed by Christians and marks the final week of Lent, leading up to Easter Sunday. The dates of Holy Week are determined by the date of Easter, which is calculated using the Gregorian calendar (the calendar used by most of the world today) and lunar calendar elements. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. As a result, Easter can occur anytime between March 22nd and April 25th.
Because both Passover and Easter are influenced by the lunar calendar, their dates can sometimes overlap or be closely aligned. However, the relationship between the two observances is not fixed, and they do not always fall within the same week.
