Dahil mamayang gabi may trabaho ulit ako at di pwedeng lumiban. Ano po gagawin ko?

Translation: I'm experiencing lower back pain. This started last week, because I washed my clothes the whole day. After a few days, the pain subsided.

Now, the back pain is back. I feel it, when I get off work. I work 8 hour shifts in a call center. It is extremely painful and I can't move naturally or bend my back.

I would like to heal and treat this, or even just minimize the pain, because I have work again later tonight, and I can't absent myself from work. What should I do?

Lower back pain is a very common complaint. Now after reading your history I can reassure you by saying your pain is muscular in origin and is not due to any serious underlying pathology which would require further investigations such X-rays, CT or MRI scans.
The pain is due to your washing the clothes for a long period of time and is aggravated by long work hours seated in one position.
Solution is rest. Since you have to work anyway, these are best helped in the short term by the following:
1. A comfortable pillow to support your back at work while seated.
2. Use a cream such as a topical analgesic. Ask your pharmacy for such a cream. I don't know what they might call it in your country. Just as for 'A Topical analgesic' and they will understand. Rub that on your lower back as your pharmacist instructs.
3. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen tablets. Acetaminophen take 1000mg (usually 2 tablets 500mgx2) every 4-6 hours and Ibuprofen 400 mg (usually 200mgx2) 3 times a day ONLY AFTER FOOD. NEVER take this medication on an empty stomach.
4. Have a hot bath. That will relax you and the muscles in your back.

That is my best advice for now. Both medications and cream are very cheap and work extremely well and will relieve you of your pain now.

I will write an article on how to fix your pain long term. So look out for it. As always feel free to ask any questions.

Kindest regards,

Dr Osman
