Kung mag-divorce under Singapore Law, i-acknowledge ba ng Philippine Embassy at NSO?

OFW kame na kinasal sa Singapore, at ni-register sa Philippine Embassy. Kung magdivorce kme under Singapore law, iacknowledge ba yun ng Phil. embassy and confirming the marriage did not take place? Panu sa ang status sa NSO?

Naku, kung kayo ng asawa mo ay mga Pilipino, kahit saang lupalop pa kayo magpakasal, ang batas ng Pilipinas pa rin ang iiral. Ibig sabihin, hindi kayo puedeng mag-divorce.

kahit na sa ilalim ng batas ng Singapore, kayo'y kinokonsiderang divorced na, kapag magpapakasal kayo ulit, hihingan kayo ng CeNoMarr (Certificate of No Marriage) mula sa NSO sa Pilipinas. Siyempre, dahil sa ipina-rehistro ninyo ang inyong kasal sa Phil. Embassy sa Singapore, at ito nga ay nai-rehistro, lalabas at lalabas na kayo ay kasal sa Pilipinas. So, bale wala ang Singaporean divorce ninyo.

Kahit sa ilalim ng batas ng Singapore kayo ay konsiderahing divorced, ang inyong passport, married pa rin kasi, ang gagamitin mong mga papeles ay iyong mga galing sa NSO, at sa ilalim ng talaan ng NSO, ikaw pa rin ay married.

The best thing is to have your marriage annulled. Kung halimbawa, ang isa sa inyo ay foreigner, maaari pa sigurong ma-divorce kayo. At ang divorce ay puede mong ipa-rehistro sa NSO sa Pilipinas. Pero kung pareho kayong Pilipino, sorry, hanggang sa hindi pa nagpapasa ng batas na nagbibigay ng divorce sa Pilipinas, you are still married.
