Yes, this problem needs to be addressed soon. I have witnessed OFWs leaving for abroad but badly treated when they get in front of the immigration officer. It is a very humiliating experience. The dignity of a person should always be respected. I have not seen this kind of treatment in other countries but is common in the Philippines.

same bad experienced I got last January and even I showed authenticated docs still immigration officers played "doubt & doubt" syndrome. Kinuha pa ung original copies ng requirements sa Business visa ko. At least di pera dahil kita nya doon sa form I filled up may question: Dollars -NONE.

Kadalasan kasi they have the right to offload them. Baka kasi sinasabi lang nila na offload sila "kahit na complete ang papers". Pero nung ininspeksyon, kulang.

Dearest Dana, Mark and Daisy, I can understand your concern. People should file complaints. OFWs who have been victimized by corrupt government officials should help entrap these crooked persons. May kasabihan, it is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. So, if you know of anyone who has been victimized, please encourage them to file a complaint. We must do our part to 'clean up our own backyard' eka nga.

Dear Dana,
In the latest move to help weed out corruption in the Customs at the airports, I read in the papers that customs officers are prohibited from using their cellphones while on duty (at the customs counter). The officers are also rotated so that they cannot 'establish' a clientele.
But the best way to stamp out corruption is for the OFW victims to file complaints and even help entrap these corrupt customs officials.
Their behavior comprises the first impression most foreigners have of the country so we must take care that our reputation for hospitality is not tarnished by corruption. Thank you for your concern.
