When kidneys fail to function, they are not able to remove excess potassium from the body. So the potassium level rises in the blood which causes symptoms like muscle weakness, lethargy, cramps etc. High potassium may occur in chronic advanced stage of kidney failure.
Avoid high potassium foods like bananas, kiwi, mangoes, pumpkin, tomatoes, milk and chocolates. Go for regular dialysis.
