Dear Susan.

I am not a pulmonologist however have treated many many patients with asthma. I assume your child is young how old? You mentioned that you gave your child a nebuliser which helped but only for a short time. So I presume your child has had this condition for a while.

You need to see your GP and they will examine your child and prescribe 2 or more inhalers one is short acting and is called Salbutamol and the other is long acting that includes steroids. Both inhalers together will keep the asthma at bay.

If you think that the asthma is an acute attack then I ask you does your child show any of these symptoms?:
1.Wheezing (A high pitched sound when the child is breathing out)
2.Cough (Usually non productive)
3.Shortness of breath (breathlessness at rest)
4.Chest tightness
5.Unable to talk or speak full sentences
6.Blue lips (Very concerning as your child is not getting enough oxygen)

Take your child immediately to your nearest hospital or medical center. They will save your child. Please update me on how it goes.

Kind regards,
Dr Osman
