Would I get pregnant with unprotected sex if I have irregular menstruation?

Kasi irregular po kasi yung menstruation ko simula nung nag hinto ako ng pills last 2 years.

Last year po na delay ako ng 1 month pero hindi naman po ako buntis. Nagkaroon po ako nung October last year tas November and December last year delay po ako. Nagkaroon na po ako etong January 2016. Ngayong pong February 2016, magtatapos na po yung buwan hindi pa din po ako nag kakaroon. Kung po bang makipag talik ako, posible po ba kong mabuntis?


Translation: I've had irregular menstruation since I stopped taking birth control pills 2 years ago. Last year, I've had delayed menstruation but was not pregnant. I had menstrual period on October last year but did not have menstruation in November and December. Then this January 2016, I had menstruation, but this February is about to end, but I still don't have menstruation. If I have unprotected sexual intercourse, could I get pregnant?

Dear Arianna,

Simple answer to your question. Yes you can get pregnant even if you have an irregular menstrual cycle. Just because you have an irregular menstrual cycle does not mean you are not producing eggs which may be fertilized by sperm and lead to pregnancy.

I advise you to always use protection to avoid pregnancy but more importantly to avoid getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD). There are many STDs such as HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis among many many others which will only cause you to get very sick, you can die.
