Ok lang po ba kung dudurugin or nguyain na lang ang pills bago inumin? Eepekto pa rin po ba yun?

Translation: Is it ok to crush or powderize or chew pills before swallowing them? Would it still be effective?

Thank you for your question.

Generally, it is advised not to crush or chew tablets or capsules except you have been advised to do so by your doctor. This is because there are certain drugs which, when crushed, would irritate the lining of the stomach or would be absorbed and released much faster than desired, and this could be dangerous.

Furthermore, not all drugs are like this, some can be safely crushed without any effects. Drugs which should not be crushed include augmentin, aspirin, ciprofloxacin, and effexor, to name a few.

Always seek advise from your doctor with regards to chewing or not chewing the prescribed drugs.

I hope I have answered your question.

Best wishes.
