Posible po akong mabuntis? Withdrawal po ang asawa ko pag nag sex kami at last menstruation ko is January 2. Dapat nitong first week ng February, meron na ako. So naisip ko baka na delayed lang ako.

So after 1 week and 2 days wala pa din ako. Hindi po ako mapakali, kaya gumamit na ako ng PT (pregnancy test) at positive po sya. Nakakapag taka lang po kasi withdrawal po sya nung time na nag sex kami.

Translation: My husband does withdrawal method whenever we have sexual intercourse, and my last menstrual period was last January 2. So I was expecting my next menstruation on first week of February. When my period did not come, I thought I was just delayed.

After a week and 2 days, I still did not have menstruation, so I took pregnancy test. The result was positive. I'm just wondering how I could get pregnant when we use withdrawal method of contraception the last time we had sex.

Thanks for your question.

Although Withdrawal method of contraception carries a significnant success rate, it could lead to pregnancy if done incorrectly. Failure rate is estimated at 28%.

Factors which cause failure of this method include late withdrawal, the husband not urinating after each round of sex,not cleaning up seminal fluid after each round of sex.

Urinating serves to flush out the sperms which remain in the male urethra after sex, therefore, these sperm cells are pushed into the vagina by the pre-ejaculate before withdrawal in the subsequent round. If, after each round, the seminal fluid remains on the hands or around the vulva, it could also move into the vagina.

I hope I have answered your question.

Best wishes.
