In early pregnancy, the cervix undergoes changes, but these can be subtle and not easily discernible for all women. After conception, the cervix will gradually become higher, softer, and more closed compared to the position and texture during the ovulatory phase when it is higher, softer, and open to allow sperm to enter.

However, these changes in the cervix are not reliable indicators of pregnancy, especially as early as 1-2 weeks after conception, when hormonal changes are just beginning to affect the cervix's position and texture. Many women may not notice any changes at all during this very early stage. It is also quite difficult to assess the cervix's position and texture accurately without training.

Pregnancy is typically confirmed by a missed period followed by a positive home pregnancy test, which detects the presence of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone is produced after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus, which typically happens 6-12 days after fertilization. hCG can be detected in urine after about two weeks, making home pregnancy tests a more reliable indicator of early pregnancy than trying to feel changes in the cervix.

If you suspect you are pregnant, taking a home pregnancy test after a missed period and consulting with a healthcare provider is the best course of action. They can provide confirmation of pregnancy through a test and an examination.
