Sa konteksto ng relihiyosong komunidad sa Pilipinas, ang "panata" ay tumutukoy sa isang uri ng pangako o pagnanais na ipinapahayag sa pamamagitan ng mga ritwal o gawain na may kaugnayan sa pananampalataya. Karaniwang isinasagawa ito bilang pagsunod sa isang tradisyon o bilang pagpapakita ng debosyon sa Diyos o sa isang banal na nilalang. Maaaring isagawa ang panata sa pamamagitan ng pagdalo sa mga relihiyosong pagdiriwang, pagbibigay ng kaukulang donasyon o tulong, o pagtupad sa mga panalangin o ritwal na may kaugnayan sa relihiyon.
 
Ang panata ay may malalim na kahulugan sa kultura ng Pilipinas, kung saan ito ay nagpapakita ng pagiging deboto at paggalang sa mga paniniwala at tradisyon ng relihiyon. Ito ay isang mahalagang bahagi ng buhay ng maraming Pilipino, at karaniwang ipinapamana mula sa henerasyon hanggang henerasyon bilang bahagi ng kanilang pagiging relihiyoso at pagiging bahagi ng komunidad.
